Today we announced the addition of native interoperability with Microsoft Skype for Business (formerly Lync) to our enterprise video conferencing platform. This new integration allows Skype for Business users to seamlessly call into a Zoom meeting directly from Skype for Business, providing several core benefits for users of both platforms:
- Room System Interoperability: Bridge Skype for Business meetings with devices not traditionally supported by this platform, such as H.323 and SIP conference room systems
- User Experience: Provide the Zoom meeting experience for external meeting participants while leveraging existing Skype for Business investments internally, enabling full two-way data, voice, and audio sharing between Lync clients, Skype, other desktop and mobile clients, and industry-standard video conferencing endpoints
- Streamlined Federation: Zoom handles the directory and SIP domain changes needed to enable B2B media communications between enterprises
“I am pleased to announce native interoperability with Skype for Business, said Eric S. Yuan, our Founder and CEO. “This will bring Zoom’s versatile, powerful video communications solution to the estimated 50% of enterprise businesses that have deployed Lync.”
“Zoom and Microsoft Office 365 already coexist at hundreds of thousands of businesses. This native interoperability with Skype for Business brings these two powerful platforms together for frictionless video communications. As an extension of our other Microsoft integrations – Active Directory SSO integration, Skype for Business instant messaging, Outlook scheduling, and mobile content sharing from OneDrive – this interoperability makes Zoom part of the natural workflow of these organizations,” said Oded Gal, Zoom’s new Head of Product Management.
