DuckDuckGo's new feature lets users choose from Apple, Bing, Here, OpenStreetMap or Google Maps to get directions. Privacy search engine DuckDuckGo has launched a new Directions! feature that offers location results with the option to choose directions via Apple, Bing, Here, OpenStreetMap or Google Maps.
According to the announcement, whatever map provider is selected during the first use will become the default for DuckDuckGo’s “Get Directions” button.
The Directions! feature also works on mobile, opening up the selected map app if it’s downloaded on a user’s device.
DuckDuckGo says it is still fine-tuning the feature and plans to integrate the map provider setting so that it is saved as part of a user’s DuckDuckGo preferences and add more map provider options.
